The Piano-In-Color: Music Lessons for Mini-Musicians book has been used with preschoolers as young as 3½ years old, as well as with elementary school students with learning delays. This is a pre-reading book - students will note learn how to read music with this book, but they will learn how to play several melodies using correct fingering and hand positioning while following the color-notes.
This is a great book for Mommy-and-Me or Daddy-and-Me times where parent and student can make music together, working through the book at their own pace. Several teachers and parents also use this book for students with learning disabilities.

The Color Piano PlayBooks were initially created for 4½-year-old Jasmine, who wanted to learn real notes like her big sister. Book 1 teaches students to read the treble clef and Book 2 teaches the bass clef.
At first, notes are "rainbow-colored" but as the student progresses through the book, more and more black notes are introduced. Towards the end of the books, the student will be playing using only "black-and-white" music, and on completion, the student will have learned to read music notes on the staff. The PlayBooks feature the same melodies as the Piano-In-Color book. |
