Paper Chains

I encourage my students to overcome difficult passages of music by repeating them over and over. This suggestion is usually greeted with a frown or a groan ... or both!

So I have been "sweetening" the repetition pot with colored paper chains.

I ask the student to repeat the difficult section
x  times each day, and to remove a link from the paper chain for each repetition. By the time he returns for his next lesson, all the links should be gone, and the "difficult section" should now be an "easy section".

This works a treat, and for holidays such as Valentine's Day, Christmas or Thanksgiving, using colored-heart or Christmas tree paper chains is a nice change from the usual circular ones.
